Rachel and Simon met in New York City, so it was a perfect way to start their forever journey together in Manhattan on their wedding day. They got ready at the Marriott New York Downtown, with a beautiful view of the Hudson River on a beautiful Summer day in May. We had a lot of fun taking the bridal party across West Side Highway in Financial District for portraits, and getting lots of attention from passerby, with cheers and honks. New York on a sunny day is practically a perfect cinematic location with the contrast of cyan skies and towers, against the warm skin tones of the people and yellow taxi cabs.
Strolling around Financial District, we came across HBO’s period drama The Gilded Age on South William Street and Mill Street transformed for large-scale Season 4 parade sequences. They just finished and allowed us to walk onto “set” and got a quick capture, but something that the couple will remember forever! What we love about wedding photography is the unpredictable weather or events during the day, and we are always eager and ready to capture it as it happens.
Rachel and Simon made their way to Atelier on the Hudson in Jersey City for a picture perfect venue with a broader view of their favorite place, the New York Skyline. The interior modern architecture was stunning. The cinematic colors continued throughout the night, as the dark evening blue skies contrast with the classic yellow tungsten lights. The couple partied hard with all their guests and the time truly flew by for us. We love making sure our couples get taken care of, so we usually stay till the end capture that final burst of energy when the last song is announced by the DJ. One secret with us is that we stopped counting hours in our services, as we are focused purely on capturing the full story, not just what the bride estimates an appropriate time to be.
