As we were planning a trip to California we received an inquiry from a couple we couldn’t help but like instantly. Stephanie and Andreas had heard about us from a friend and were very interested in booking us for their Cali wedding in June 2016. From the conversations we had with them we could tell that they were a fun and easy going couple that really wanted their day captured in a photo-journalistic way – which is what we love doing. We always recommend that couples book engagement sessions with us before the wedding because it creates a level of trust, understanding and friendship that really helps the bride and groom feel that they can just be themselves and not worry about photos the day of the wedding. Lucky for these two we already planned a trip to the West Coast so we planned their engagement session into our itinerary.
We love how many different locations we managed to explore within the 2 hours, all because they brought a friend who drove us all around. It’s amazing how much time it saves to have someone else look for parking.
The session started at San Francisco City Hall, one of the most beautiful municipal buildings we’ve ever seen! Next we went to a park that had a great view of San Francisco’s skyline, along with a little bit of foliage to contrast the metal buildings. We even came across a tree stump that resembled a heart. After that we went over to downtown San Francisco, where we found cute little nooks to photograph the couples in. We ended the session at the place the couple got engaged: Lands End Labyrinth, a beautiful park with breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
We absolutely loved the photos from this session, but the best part was getting to know Stephanie and Andreas. It’s so clear how much they not only love each other but enjoy being around each other. They share so many similar interests (like eating!) and make each other laugh by doing silly little things. This engagement session really made us look forward to their wedding in July (which was even more fun!).
